Our School

Knutton St Marys Church of England (vc) Primary School is situated on the edge of the village of Knutton in a building which was extensively refurbished and redecorated in 1998 to facilitate the amalgamation of the two former junior schools in to one Church of England Primary School. A further process of amalgamation began in 2001, undertaking to provide a 'through' primary with nursery provision. A process of internal remodeling began in 2003 with a major additional building programme finally underway in October 2004. The new building was completed in November 2005, when staff and children from the Infant site moved in to their new home.
The old and new buildings are linked together around an internal courtyard which will be developed for use as an outdoor classroom and as a quiet area for children and staff to utilise.
The new Foundation Stage unit has two classrooms, a quiet room, a toilet, shower and laundry facilities. It also has its own outdoor provision, comprising a playground, soft play area and gardening/garden area.
A further nine teaching areas are distributed throughout the school with all of the KS1 classes housed within the new building. Our school boasts two computer suites with the very latest in ICT provision available to our children and the local community. Interactive whiteboards are now in place in every classroom throughout the school. We have a library which also provides a facility as a community portal library for Staffordshire County Council.
A spacious hall functions as a dining room and as a facility for teaching, particularly music , drama and physical education.
Extensive playing fields and a large playground provides for further teaching, learning, social and recreational opportunities to take place. Our Breathing Space and garden area are used to support environmental, scientific and creative work. These areas can also provide space for reflection and prayer for all members of our community.
Staff room facilities ensure that appropriate space and resources are available to provide for staff welfare, training opportunities and in order to support staff in their planning and preparation activities.
